My feelings have
wavered so much during these first few days. At times I’ve felt super excited,
then anxious, uncertain, certain, happy, relaxed and even worried.
Why so many
feelings???
Why Anxious?
Have we done the
right thing?
It’s a big rig,
is it too big?
The truck
overheated on hills, is this going to be a problem?
Are we crazy
doing this with three dogs?
Why Uncertain?
Is living on the
road with no fixed income going to work?
Will the truck be
reliable?
Have we invested
too much money into this?
Happy:
Finally we have
our rig.
The rig is better
than expected.
It really is a
home away from home.
Discovering new
places.
Being on holiday.
Excited:
New places to
visit.
Lovely rig.
Photo
opportunities galore.
New beginning.
New lifestyle.
Certain:
This is what we
had dreamed of doing, it’s probably natural to feel some apprehension
initially.
This lifestyle
will give us new experiences, so no more 8 to 5 routine.
Relaxed:
Sitting by the
river watching the dogs having fun.
Napping in
comfort.
Watching T.V. in
bed.
Gorgeous views.
Worried:
About the truck.
Have we done the
right thing???
We were so lucky to
have met Paul & Amanda Walters last year. They’ve given us so much advice
and support. And, knowing they are only a phone call or a text away is
reassuring.
Today had some
challenges due to the rain. We were worried when we discovered the puddles of
water this morning, but seeing it was an easy fix has been a relief. Then when
Boo rolled in poop (again), it felt disheartening because it added an extra
challenge having to clean her and the truck (after she’d been in it). But
again, we just have to be stricter. The dogs must go on leads! And, we need an
emergency kit containing water, gloves, shampoo and towels in the truck.
Tonight we rang
Amanda and Paul and had a chat with them. We mentioned that we had read on the
Facebook Motorhome Friends site that there was a job available at Temuka
campground for a couple to work one month on and one month off. Amanda said
that was where they were staying at the moment and they knew the owners. The
position pays $70,000. We are keen but won’t be able to do it until next year.
Amanda said it would pay for us to call in and meet the owners when we are next
in the Temuka area and explain to them that we would be very keen on the
position if it came up again in the future. So after that conversation, it made
me feel more confident about what we were planning to do.
