Okiwi Bay

Today we drove to Okiwi Bay to check if we would be able to stay there. We knew the road was windy and we wondered if there would be over hanging trees and whether the NZMCA park would be big enough for us.
It turned out that traveling there would be no problem and the NZMCA park was perfect. Although it's not huge, it's flat with easy access. And even better, it's right across the road from the sea. Perfect views.
During the summer months it would pay to ring in advance to ensure there was space. It's not a large site ( probably about the size of a quarter acre section) but the location is fantastic.
Okiwi Bay seems to be the spot if you're a keen fisherman. When we were there at 9am, there were loads of empty boat trailers indicating that boats were already out. Plus we watched several boats being launched and heading out for a spot of fishing.

The NZMCA park has a row of cherry trees down the left side and on the right side there are fruit trees.

What a view!

At the end of the beach there's a short bush walk that starts after you cross over a little wooden bridge. The dogs loved it.

Here's a wild flower that was growing beside the road.
