Ouch!

While we were in Dunedin, we took the dogs for a walk at the nearby park each evening. On the Saturday evening, as we were heading home, Boo stopped several times to chew at her back foot. I picked her up and looked at her foot. It looked okay, but she wanted to be carried home.
Later, that evening she licked and chewed her paw, and resorted to walking on three legs! The next day, we were heading home and we thought it would be good for Boo to have the day traveling and relaxing. On the way home, we stopped often to give the dogs a stretch and a toilet break, but Boo wouldn't get out of the truck and when we encouraged her, she really favoured her foot, and was walking on three legs.
We rang the vet in Christchurch, and he reassured us that she would be okay until we got back to Nelson. So the next day we took her to our local vet, and it turned out she had a grass seed in her paw. The vet pulled it out and when he applied pressure to her paw, the remaining seed flew out and landed on his arm! We were lucky to leave without having 'Boo' sedated, all she needed was an anti inflammatory injection.

This was what was wedged into Boo's foot
